This policy applies to the mobile application MoneyLogger (“we”, “our”, “the App”).
About the App
MoneyLogger – Private Finance Tracker is a comprehensive personal finance app that operates entirely on your device. It helps you track expenses and income, manage investments (including importing broker files such as Zerodha/Kite CSV), track loans/EMIs, set reminders and notifications, and analyze your financial data—all without sending any information to external servers.
Data Collection
We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or cloud sync.
- No remote storage: All data (transactions, investments, loans, reminders, SMS-parsed entries) is stored locally on your device using on-device storage (e.g., SQLite).
- No background uploads: The App does not send your data to any server controlled by us or third parties.
Data Processed on Device
The App processes the following categories of data locally on your device to provide features:
- Transactions: amounts, dates, categories, descriptions.
- Investments: holdings, quantities, prices, performance; optional CSV imports (e.g., Zerodha/Kite).
- Loans: principal, interest, EMIs, schedules.
- Reminders & Notifications: due dates, categories, repeat settings.
- SMS content (Android, optional): bank transaction messages parsed locally into structured transactions when you enable SMS reading.
This information never leaves your device unless you explicitly export files yourself.
Permissions (You Control)
Storage / File Access
Used to save your local database and to import/export backups (CSV/Excel-compatible). Required for backup/restore features.
Notifications
Used to deliver reminders for EMIs, SIPs, bills, and custom alerts. You can disable notifications at any time in system settings or in the App.
SMS Reading (Android Only, Optional)
When enabled by you, the App reads bank transaction SMS to automatically create transactions. Parsing happens entirely on device. No SMS data is uploaded or shared.
Biometric / PIN (Optional)
Used to lock/unlock the App locally (e.g., fingerprint/face/PIN). Biometric data is handled by the operating system and is not accessible to us.
You can enable or disable any optional permission at any time. If disabled, related features simply won’t function.
Imports and Exports
- Import: You may import CSV files (e.g., broker exports like Zerodha/Kite) to add investments. Files are processed locally.
- Export/Backup: You may export your data (transactions, investments, loans, reminders) to files stored on your device or your chosen location.
- Your Responsibility: After exporting, you control those files. Please store them securely and delete them when no longer needed.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or share information from children.
Security
- Local-only design: Eliminates server-side risks from our side.
- App Lock (Optional): PIN or biometrics can be used to restrict access.
- Your device matters: We recommend using a device lock, keeping your OS updated, and protecting exported files.
Data Retention & Deletion
- Retention: Your data remains only on your device until you delete it.
- Delete in App: You can clear data from the App’s settings (where provided).
- Delete via OS: Uninstalling the App and deleting its local storage removes the local database. Remember to securely delete any exported files you created.
Data Sharing & Third Parties
No data is shared with third parties. The App does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or social plugins.
International Transfers
There are no international data transfers because data is not transmitted off your device.
Your Rights
Because we don’t collect or store any personal data on our servers, requests such as access, correction, portability, or deletion are handled by you directly on your device:
- View, edit, or delete entries within the App.
- Export your data at any time.
- Uninstall the App or clear its storage to remove local data.
